How tuition and aid work

The school gives its figures in person, so you never read an old one.

  • Tuition is set by the grade band and covers the three school days, the plan for the two home days and the weekly check-in with a teacher. It is set by the year. The school's figures are on the admissions page and are given at every visit.

  • Registration

A family pays an application fee when it applies, which covers reading the application and meeting the child. After an offer there is an enrollment fee that holds the place. Both are listed with their purpose in the program matrix below.

    • Application: when a family applies

    • Enrollment: when an offer is accepted

  • Holding a place

A place is held when the family signs the enrollment agreement and makes the first payment, which goes toward tuition. Families have until early April to answer an offer. If a grade band is full, the office keeps a waitlist and calls families in the order they joined.

    • Signed agreement and first payment

    • Waitlist by order of joining

  • Billing

Families choose to pay by the year, by the term or by the month. Monthly payments run by autopay, and the office will go over the schedule with you at enrollment.

    • By the year, term or month

    • Autopay by the month

  • Help with tuition

Financial aid is available. Here is how to apply: ask for the aid form with the application, and the head of school and a small committee read each request. Families hear about aid at the same time as the admissions decision. Ask us about state programs at a visit.

    • An aid form with the application

    • Decided with the admissions decision

  • Siblings

A second child in the same family is handled differently from the first. The office explains how at the visit, and the enrollment agreement says it in writing.

    • Explained at the visit

    • Written into the agreement

  • Withdrawing

We ask families to tell the office in writing before the end of a term. The enrollment agreement explains how a term in progress is handled.

    • Written notice before a term ends

  • Books, supplies and other costs

Besides tuition there are books and materials for school days and home days, lab and art supplies, and a few field trips. Each is listed with its purpose below, and none is a surprise: the office gives the figures at the visit.
