Family policies
What families ask before the first day.
Photos of your child
We ask your written permission before we share any photo of your child, on this site, in newsletters or on social media, and you can change your answer at any time. We never put a child's name with a photo, and the photos on this site are examples until we replace them with our own.
When to keep your child home
A child with a fever, or who has been sick in the night, stays home until the next morning. On a home day a sick child rests, and the plan can wait. We call a parent when a child is unwell at school, and the office sends a note when something is going around.
Drop-off and pickup
Children arrive from 8:15 am and a teacher greets each one at the door. Only the adults on the family's pickup list may collect a child, and we ask to see ID until we know you. Home days have no drop-off.
Absences and late arrival
A school day holds lessons that are hard to repeat at home, so please tell the office by 8:00 am when a child will miss one, and the teacher will send the notes. A home day is the family's, and the plan and the Friday check-in show how it went.
Closures for weather and holidays
The school closes for the usual holidays, the winter and spring breaks, and for snow. A closure is sent by text before 6:30 am. On a closed school day the plan for home still arrives.
Screens and phones
Children do not use phones or tablets on school days. A phone that comes to school stays in the backpack and is switched off. A few home-day lessons for the older classes use a computer, and the plan says when.
What to wear and bring
Children wear a plain dress code: collared or crew-neck tops, dark or khaki bottoms and closed shoes. The office keeps the list, and a family may ask about a change at the visit.
Meals, snacks and allergies
Families send a packed lunch for school days, and the school provides water. Tell us about allergies at the visit; we ask privately once you enroll, and the teachers keep a plan for each child.
