Questions families ask
If yours isn't here, write to the office or ask at a visit.
How does admissions work?
Get in touch, visit, apply, hear from us in March, and register. The admissions page has each step and the months in which they happen.
When are the open houses and visit days?
Open houses are in October and January, and visit days run most Tuesdays from October to March. We ask every family to visit before applying, and children may come along.
What is a school day like?
It opens with a morning gathering, then Latin, logic or literature, lunch together, a lesson after lunch and, on Thursday, a seminar. It ends at 3:00 pm.
How does tuition work, and how do we ask about aid?
Tuition is set by the grade band and the school gives its figures in person. Financial aid is available; ask for the aid form with the application. The tuition page explains both.
How big are the classes?
Class size is in the matrix on the home page, by grade band. It is for the lessons on school days.
What does a parent do on a home day?
A parent leads the day from the teacher's plan and keeps a short note. The home-day page has a step-by-step account.
What are Latin and logic for, in a child of eight?
Latin gives an eight-year-old chants, patterns and a way into English words. Logic starts later, with simple questions: what is the claim, what is the reason, what is missing.
Who is welcome?
Families who want what we teach are welcome, whether or not they share the school's faith. The faith is part of every school day, and we are glad to talk about it at a visit.
Is there before or after care?
Not on school days, apart from a Thursday study hall for the older classes. Home days are the family's own.
When do we hear back, and how do you stay in touch?
Decisions go out in March. During the year the office sends a weekly note, teachers read the notes from home, and every family has a Friday check-in.
